JIS Kuala Lumpur: A Timeless Fusion of Art Deco and Zen

The inspiration behind JIS Kuala Lumpur is a fascinating journey 'Back to the Future, Gateway to the Past'. The lounge is a remarkable blend of the bold geometric patterns of Art Deco and the tranquility of Zen philosophy. The design features lavish use of gold and steel, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the Great Gatsby era, while the Sakura Modern lounge draws inspiration from the brightness and grace of spring.

The uniqueness of JIS Kuala Lumpur lies in its three distinct sections. The first is a 1920s Great Gatsby inspired lounge, adorned with glamorous gold trim and subtle, ever-changing mood lighting. The geometric patterns of the chandeliers, panels, and light fittings complement the wood panel flooring. The second section, the Sakura Modern lounge, features Arabescato marble pillars, pink mood lighting, and wallpaper, giving the room a bright and feminine touch. The final section is an intimate parlour, reminiscent of a Moroccan tearoom.

One of the key strengths of this design is its ability to facilitate socialization and interaction. The spacious seating layout allows people to connect face-to-face comfortably. The color-changing glass wall and table lamps serve as key elements, helping people forget the stress of work and focus on connecting with others. This design truly adds color to life.

The project, located in Star Boulevard, two minutes away from the heart of city center, KLCC, started in early June 2019 and was completed in December 2019. Despite the challenges of importing most of the materials and fittings from overseas and completing the full renovation of the 11,000 sqft shop lots within 4 months, the project was successfully completed within 3 and a half months.
